LION phase 2: ACT I FLANDRIA
/ AFROPREAN OPERA PERFORMANCE
The opera performance FLANDRIA is the story of the first encounter of Flandria with a black knight, King LION of Flanders. At first she doesn't recognize him as being the black LION of the prophecy. Through a process of reflection and communion with King LION she is convinced and transformed into a hybride being, a Afropean. She embraces her new identity and celebrates King LION as the true liberator of the prophecy. FLANDRIA celebrates the coming of an era of hybridity that will change the face of humanity.
This project is based on a concept and a direction by John K Cobra, with music composed by Benjamien Lycke, a libretto written by Mien Bogaert, a dramatic composition by Matthias Velle, a scenography by Kachiri Faes and a costume design by Thomas-Andries van Dyk.
