TRANS-CANIBAL

IN DEVELOPMENT

The Trans-canibal series was presented in at the Nkisi N’Kondi (Power Figure) exhibition

at Nel gallery in Cape Town.

OPENING: Saturday the 24th of July from 11am until 4pm

(The Exhibitions close on Saturday 28th of August)

This exhibition speaks of a new hybrid but also the colonial practices of collecting, categorizing, display and ultimately consumption of foreign culture.

Nkisi N’Kondi is a new addition to an ongoing investigation into Trans-Canibal, crossing and breaking barriers of gender, social and cultural hierarchies and leading ways to a future not prescribed by the monoliths of capitalism and patriarchy.

Is trans cultural canibalism more a natural human reflex more than a question of cultural appropriation?
