LION PHASE 3

/ OUT OF THE GREAT NIGHT

Phase 3 consists of 3 ACTS. ACT I is the transformation of the Flemish identity into a plurality of identities by means of a transformation ritual, based on Flemish and Congolese cultural traditions, in which Lady Flandria, an allegory of the Flemish identity, transforms into a hybrid creature with Afro-European facial scarifications. ACT II analyses Belgian colonial history in Congo adding the point of views of Flemish women and Congolese people, to create a polyvocal version of colonial history. Before Flanders can build an Afropean future it needs to reflect on its colonial past. ACT III is the final battle for the liberation of the Flemish people from the white Flemish nationalistic identity or the Flemish Integration/Assimilation Monster.
